Learn to say NO

Starting out a service providing business has its ups and downs. Mostly downs at the beginning because nobody is willing to take a chance on a newbie, some take advantage of this period by pricing you down, after all, nobody has ever heard of you and they are doing you a 'HUGE' favour by taking a chance on you.
I have had to accept way below my price for the sake of building a portfolio and being able to answer the almighty 'what have you done in the past' question.
Even though this is a fantastic way to get your name out there and gain experience as it were, but, this could also be a trap of staying at a level with a target audience you didn't set out to serve.
How do you work around correcting this situation you mistakenly created?
Re-evaluate - There is a time for paying your dues in building your track record and getting the necessary experience to be able to show your competence. When you get to the point where you are giving so much value without the corresponding remuneration, you should reevaluate. Decide if you want to keep working with these businesses or not and deliberately begin to attract your kind of clients that can afford your service.
Spread your net wider - This is the time to go for gold. Go for what you want. Shut out the fear and go all out to get your true client. Show the value you can give the businesses and don't be afraid to ask for the worth of your value in return for offering that service.
Some will say NO and unbelievably some will say YES
Take the chance...
Finally, this quote of Warren Buffet finishes it off nicely for me
'The difference between successful people and really successful people is that really successful people say no to almost everything'
