What Every Business Needs

What is that feeling when you enter a place or business and everything seems to run smoothly, everything is where it’s supposed to be. I think that feeling is ‘Awe’, It makes you feel this people know what they are about, they know what they are doing.
Organization is the act of arranging systematically, to sort out in order of priority or preference.
Everyone has 24 hours in a day, do you ever wonder why there is so much disparity in the achievements of individuals who have equal amount of this resource called TIME?
From the minutest task to the greatest project what distinguishes us is how we use our time.
Your ability to organise anything gives you 60% success in what you want to do, the other 40% comes down to discipline, grits and focus. Achievers are not super humans they are just fantastic organisers or have hired the right people who help them organise and prioritise their tasks and activities.
You want to fly, start organising your time: from your everyday tasks, to your daunting projects.
Create schedules – Have a to-do list and have all your day’s task properly entered into your google calendar (open a gmail account and thank me later) even your lunch time put it on your calendar and watch as you turn ‘Pro’ in executing.
Set reminders – As you go through your day there are a billion things you have to get done, set reminders so when tasks are taking too long or you have entered gist mode in between work, reminders bring you back to reality and puts you in your day’s program.
Do the hard things first – some people say start with the easy wins, I say tackle the big stuff early so you can relax with the easy ones. When you have gotten a major win in your day it just energies you for the rest of the day.
Minimise distractions – I am a culprit, multitasking is a thief, you end up not finishing anything and being overwhelmed to the point of not knowing what to do anymore. Focus on one task at a time, finish and move to the next. Put your phone on silent, resist the temptation of social media and get things done, if you finish on time, reward yourself to a one hour break ( which is usually lunch time ‘lol’)
Delegation – When managers & supervisors are looking good in front of the CEO this is the tool responsible for that. Asking for help does not mean you are weak it means you are strategic. If you are in an environment where you can delegate work so you get much more done do not hesitate to enlist the help. I reiterate, this does not mean you are lazy it means you are working smart and getting things done. Ensure the person you delegate to has the level of your expertise as his/her work will reflect your capability.
Teamwork – As the acronym of the word means TEAM; Together we Achieve More. Need I say more?
Stretch – if your work is sedentary learn to have 5 mins breaks every 20-30 mins to stretch and keep the blood flowing in your system, in as much as you want to get things done be mindful of work place health hazards, sitting for too long is detrimental to your health (I’ll comply a list of office exercises you can engage in to increase your energy level and reduce health risk)
Journal – Always have a special notebook and pen handy; on your desk, in your car, on your night stand etc I get spontaneous ideas at unusual times and if I don’t document it I lose it. I need to be able to jot and fine tune these ideas when they come. These helps you increase your productivity in the long run.
De-clutter – it amazes me how an untidy cluttered work area just zaps all the energy and enthusiasm for work. Let your work space be more organised and pleasant to your eyes. Work is more enjoyable in a clean de-cluttered space.
There is a lot that comes with having organisational skills I have just highlighted a few ways to help you jump start the process of being organised and increasing your productivity and market value.
